I have just taken delivery of a new Mesh Computer with Vista installed. So I am annoying the rest of my family by exploring the new capabilities of what I have just bought.
One thing I used extensively on my old computer (XP Home Edition) was a text reader, which I used to proof read documents before publication. I used WordRead, which gave a good realistic rendition of what I had typed. I have installed it on the new computer, but it does not work as well as before. I cannot get it to select a 'human' voice, only the default 'computer' voice. However, I have seen that Vista includes voice sythesis. But I cannot get it to focus on the text. Typically, this will be a Word document or an article in the DTP application. Vista will tells me everything about the window, name, menu items, and so on, but not read out the contents. Can anyone help me either by getting Vista to read the text, or suggest an alternative Text to Voice application. |
