Vista
Quote:
It's not just the graphics (although Aero and Dreamscapes are beautiful) but the ease of accessing applications just by typing a few letters of its name is brilliant. Yes I've had BSOD's but probably on a par with the XP machines (its easy to forget all those BSODs when XP was first available) . I find it easier to recover from a Vista BSOD than in XP. Games play brilliantly and Vista plays my older 16 bit games better than XP. Even with most modern games one can Alt-Tab to the desktop without a crash (essential when my eldest son skypes from university). I leave UAC on. I find it useful. Even though it is a one-user PC it makes me think about what I'm about to do. As in most things in life "One man's meat is another man's poison".

Just about to purchase PC but I have one or two concerns.
1. Vista...Home Premium or Business? Wife head teacher her Mesh laptop runs XP pro, office 2003. Me own business Mesh PC Runs XP pro and office 2003. We both have our won accounts and both need to work on the New home pc, so after all that, Vista or ask Mesh for XP Pro? 2. AMD Phenom Quad core 9550 or Intel Core 2 Quad 2.4, 8mb, cach, 1066mhz? I'm not a gamer, but I do like to listen to radio, watch the odd movie, like to watch TV especially sports. Nothing exciting just want a good quality system that will keep us pretty much a breast of things for a year or three. Mike. |
