Default Looking for a Notebook

I am new to Mesh Computers having just bought a new desktop, I am also looking for a notebook and noticed the Asus Eee PC701. Does anyone have any first hand knowledge of this product and what is the general feeling of it or any other notebook supplied by Mesh.

My wife received an Eee PC 701 for Christmas and never uses it. The wifi always needs re-setting which is especially annoying as this is the prime selling point of these computers, and the screen is so small that you forever need to scroll to read even a standard web page. I would recommend the 901 which has more memory and a bigger screen, but in all honesty I would steer clear of netbooks altogether and just buy a cheap laptop which will provide all the features plus a bigger screen, more storage space, built in optical drive and the option to run Vista or XP straight out of the box.

In all honesty it depends on what you require from a laptop, but if you were initially considering an Eee Pc 701 then virtually any modern laptop regardless of price will provide more power and storage. For a basic laptop this one will do: Here. This will be fine for web browsing, word processing, watching video and basic computing but isn't suitable for gaming or graphically and processor intensive uses. A web-cam is also not included.

Let us know what you will be using the computer for and what features you require and it will be easier to make a recommendation.

if ASUS ever produce their netbook with googles android operating system it would be worth a look

In laptops the x71sl is getting good reviews. Depends whether you want to pay for blu-ray
