Default Graphics Card Upgrade

Hello Everyone

I would like to upgrade my 7900gt card to possibly ATI4850 or 9800gtx
I was wondering if you think my system could handle this,

system specs: Elite E6600

Core 2 duo E6600
Aluminium ATX Midi Tower + 550w PSU
ASUS P5W DH Deluxe - Intel 975x chipset (M/board)
2 gb DDR2 900Mhz memory
still running windows xp media centre edition

would appreciate any replys / comments
thanks

Hi Raffles111

You should have no problems running either of those cards. Remember to remove the old drivers before installing the new card then enjoy the extra performance.

Still deciding between the 4850 and 9800GTX? Not sure whether this review is of any use to you.

Asus Extreme Radeon HD 4850 review - TechSpot

Gaming benchmarks put the 4850 slightly ahead, and in power consumption too (since you have a 550W PSU this might be an issue). However, the operating temperatures of the 4850 seem ridiculously high, even when idle. Whether this is of any concern you to you is another matter - I doubt you'd fry your system unless you ran intensive 3D games 24/7.
