Default External Card Reader Failed

My Mesh PC arrived at the end of December and the external card reader followed shortly after. The reader wasn't exactly what I'd expected, but it did the job. However, the one thing which did concern me was the amount of heat it put out.

I put the thought out of my head and made sure that I unplugged it after each use. Last night I forgot.

When I came to use it this morning it was throwing out 'USB Device Not Recognized' errors. I Googled in the hopes of a quick fix and I tried them all to no avail. Shutting down and unplugging the power cord. Checking for dust. Swapping front and back USB ports. Trying a different USB lead. Inserting a card into the reader before starting it up.

I also tried the reader on three other systems (one Vista and two XP). One of which it froze up until I unplugged the reader, the other two giving the same error as my Mesh system.

This is the card reader in question:

Any ideas on a fix?

Hi Brundell,
Please make sure you enter your Mesh order/serial number into your forum profile so Davey W can look up your account details.

Any chance of a manufacturer or model number so we can try looking it up?

Hi Brudenell,

Testing on 3 PC's with similar or the same results seems indicative of a hardware fault.

If returned and confirmed faulty we will replace the device for you. Please confirm whether your address has changed since purchase and I will raise the relevant paperwork for you.

Davey

Hello Davey,

No. No change of address since the purchase. Still based here in sunny Nottingham.

Hi chickendippers. Sorry, only just found the time to check back, but thanks all the same

Russ

Still in Nottingham. And it's gotten sunnier. I'd post some photos to prove the fact... However.

Any idea when that paperwork might appear?

Thanks,
Russ.
