Default USB FLASH MEMORY LOCKS WINDOWS / Vista recovery.

Hi I am looking after a system for Dave & Polly and since new there has been an issue with USB flash memory. All Usb sticks seem to initially open then the explorer window freezes and does not recover until stick is removed. It happens if I use the front ports the port on the multi card reader and rear ports. I have tried a few suggestions form MESH SUPPORT but to no avail. Thinking of restoring windows but a. No license code and b. no recovery options shown on hard drive hidden partition.

Help.

Vista x64 OS

Hi daveandpolly

Your license number will be on a sticker on the side of your case somewhere.

To use the mesh restore, boot your pc and tap F8. There will be instructions on how to use this within the drivers and apps folder that Mesh installed on your PC when you first got it.

how old is the pen drive?
does it work on another machine?

if the answers are old and no, its the pen drive. if the answers are old and yes, may be the pen drive; if the answers new and yes; then its the pc and how it recognises the pen drive.

Various new sticks and they work in all other m/c's

Ok it seems all USB flash memory works ok if the multi-card reader (internal USB) is disconnected??? Not sure how to proceed as it's I quote uPNP and there are no drivers!!

Will contact tech support and see if they will send new unit only a couple of pounds..

Hi daveandpolly,

That sounds like either the card reader is faulty or bent pin on the motherboard that the card reader connects to. I would have started with a driver issue but if you have really format and re-installed Windows then the likelihood of this is reduced greatly.

Davey

Cheers Davey

Big cock up on reloading system
A. No dvd's when we first switched pc on so could not burn drivers etc and missed great big writing on quick start sheet Doh never got round to it......
B.didn't know how to press F8 and then use recovery from hiddened partition so went with mesh oem copy of vista which was fine (nice clean install) but lost the F8 function now.. Drivers not a problem got new Asus chipset from them along with a sound card driver (Via)which originally fixed the front head phone jack issue we had (didn't work from new).

Still feel very unsupported from Mesh themselves very slow to respond to Messages/Posts can't take going down phone route...

As for the Card reader the pins are fine on mother board was very careful with them tried swopping them over with case USB front ports head still no good. Just hope we can get a replacement card reader without too much hassle....

There are no drivers for these multi card readerrs PnP lol......

Thanks for your support M8y
