Hi
I've just got my shiny new quad-core VISTA PC and wanted to try out NWN2, but find the install program crashes straight away without issuing an error. I wondered if anyone here has tried the same program, or had similar issues using Vista or a quad-core PC. I have checked the NWN2 support pages and there are people out there playing the game on Vista. Does anyone know if XP will run on a quad core? If so I may set up a partition and install XP and run the game via that. Rgrds |

Hi akira,
Have you installed anything else at all? If NWN is the only thing you've tried to install it may not be the game or Vista at all. When you say crashes with no error, do you see anything at all? Or do you mean it looks like its starting and then nothing happens at all? Davey

Hi
I have installed Assassin's Creed, which appears to work okay. When I tried to install NWN2, all I got was what looked like a DOS window appearing for a fraction of a second, and then it disappeared. No error message was displayed, so no hint as to what the issue is. I did try amending the SETUP.EXE to run in WinXP mode, but it made no difference. If anyone has any tips, I'd be grateful. Try this:
If setup runs as soon as you put the CD (or DVD) cancel it. Navigate to the setup program with Explorer and RIGHT-CLICK the setup program. Select the 'Run as Administrator' option. This should allow the installation to complete. But ... NWN2 is not designed for a multi-core processor. There are some instructions at TweakGuides.com - Neverwinter Nights 2 on how to set NWN2 to use only one processor (scroll down the page to the "Dual Core Issues" paragraph). Interestingly NWN1 works fine on my Quad-Core machine.
