Default Overclocking E6750 & 8600GT

I want to overclock without adding additional cooling, I can't play some games at 1024x768. I tried using nTune and the smallest overclock resulted in freezing/crashing. I tried to overclocking my CPU from the BIOS and after saving the changes I had a black screen for some time until I got a message saying the overclocking failed. As you can tell, I'm new to this stuff. I would like to get the highest speeds possible from both but I also want a safe overclock.

The CPU is not the problem, the graphics card is.

That card is pretty much an entry level card that can be bought new for approx £40.00. Compare that to something like the latest Nvidia top of the range cards that sell for approx £350.00 and you can see the difference. Unfortunately the only way you will be able to improve your gaming graphics is to spend £100.00 on a new card. Click on the shop link at the top of the Mesh forum page and then the graphics tab. I would recommend either the Nvidia Asus 8800GT 512MB or the ATI Asus Radeon 3870 512MB cards. Either of these cards will provide a massive boost over your existing graphics and really show off you CPU to it's full potential ( the good news is your CPU is a really good performer even in it's standard clock).

Forget the overclocking, it will invalidate your warranty and not give you any improvement as any increase in speed for your CPU will be held back by the graphics card.
